Covid status in poll-bound states is assessed by the Election Commission.

According to sources familiar with the sessions, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan informed the poll panel on the Covid situation in the country for about an hour, focusing on vote-bound Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.
The issue of the Omicron coronavirus variant's spread was also explored.

According to the sources, the commission specifically mentioned Punjab and Goa in relation to drug smuggling.
The legislative assemblies of Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Manipur will all conclude in March of next year, with the Uttar Pradesh Assembly's mandate concluding in May.
Next month, the Election Commission is anticipated to declare election dates.
The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners will visit Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday to assess the state's election readiness.
